Dear Daisy
Preciously welcomed by world
into herself
with arms of love
you were waited for
by mother
father
brother.
Anticipated by world
she watched over you
as your mother watched over you
as seed germinated in womb
Aa seed germinated in world’s womb
the hope of your life
and the life it would bring.
Your Life birthed forth
giving life to those around you.
Cherished, adored
always cherished.
She who welcomed you into herself is wild
wildly beautiful.
She scoffs at projections
definitions of beauty
prescribed on glossy paper
tight between right angles.
She is wildly beautiful.
She is changing shimmers as the day begins
before which she consumes with darkness.
She is water running over rocks.
She hollers through the expanse
hurls ice to catch the wind.
She is chaos.
Sometimes breaking branches
falling
sometimes breaking dreams
breaking expectations.
Branches obstructing paths
but we can still dream.
Dream wildly enough to see her beauty
in all her diversity.
Dreams that wind their way out of boxes
wind themselves into new frameworks
exploring new possibilities.
Boxes
the stupidity, ignorance
to which
may you never submit.
Dream wild.
Daisy
you are Daisy.
A beautiful flower growing forth from seed of love
your life is a garden
to be worked
to be watered
to be planted.
May people plant good things in your life
in your heart
that you would flourish
develop into who you are
that your flourishing
would give into the flourishing of others
giving life
absorbing life
through skin cells
through breath
through sight
through sound
osmosis.
The giving and receiving of life.
Dear Daisy
I cannot wish for you fairness
a life free from wilderness
her complications
and messiness
struggles and setbacks
pain and medical interventions
complications
to the life expected
the life wanted.
I can not wish away
the stones upon which you’ll stub your toe
and kick again in frustration.
But this I can pray for you
in the knowledge of love, faith and hope.
May you walk hand in hand with love.
Love will surround you with family.
As long as waves caress the sand
is as long as they will fight for you.
Treasure them
for from within them you will draw treasure after treasure
The strength to take another step
yet with stone-stubbed toe.
Arms that build shelters of comfort for you to hide in.
Although remember to come out after a while
take yet another step.
Be growing
in knowing
the unconditional love in which you are dwelling.
Increasingly deeply
know that you are loved completely.
You your brother
will keep forever.
May you know the God who knows you
who loves you
who sees you
who dwells within each cell that is you
with love, passion, peace.
May you have peace
within wilderness.
Hope in the God who loves you.
May you always have friends.
Sometimes one or two is enough.
May you find that laughter can dwell within spaces filled with pain
Dear Daisy, you love
and what more is there then to love and to be loved
For this is what we are for.
This is who we are for.
So love.
So breathe.
So be.
